It is likely that over a period of time your sterilizer interior surfaces have become discolored and covered with rust and/or a black or green film, resulting in a nonreflective insulating barrier.
This discoloration, directly related to oxidation and deposits from steam, have a detrimental effect on sterilizer effectiveness, drying efficiency and energy consumption.
